Individualized Imaging Care for Your Neurological Condition

Using state-of-the-art technology, our team of highly trained and experienced board-certified, subspecialty-trained neuroradiologists will work with your physician to determine the most appropriate imaging or image-guided interventions for your specific health concern.

By capturing detailed images, we support you and your care team in understanding your health, customizing treatments and achieving the best possible quality of life. After diagnosis, your physician will guide you through the many treatment options and techniques available for your brain, head, neck and spine health.

As a nationally recognized academic medical center, you will have access to a wide variety of high-quality treatment options from outstanding medical providers in all subspecialties. We collaborate closely with our colleagues and other Weill Cornell Medicine specialists across all specialties, including neurosurgery, radiation oncology, otolaryngology (ENT), neurology, pediatric neurology, orthopedic surgery, interventional neuroradiology, maternal fetal medicine, pain management, rheumatology, ophthalmology and infectious disease, covering all aspects of acute care, inpatient management, outpatient practice and research.

At Weill Cornell Medicine, neuroradiologists provide coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days/week to ensure our patients receive the highest level of sub-specialty care. We are internationally recognized for our compassionate, team-based, patient-centered approach to imaging, which includes flexible and easy scheduling as well as efficient results reporting. Our team consists of the nation’s top experts who are invested in ensuring optimal patient experience and results.

Our neuroradiologists proudly participate in a wide range of multi-disciplinary activities including weekly conferences with pediatric neurology, the cerebrovascular consortium, adult and pediatric epilepsy, neurosurgery tumor board, otolaryngology, head and neck tumor board, ophthalmology, the spine center and neonatology to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.

Conditions We Treat

Using the most advanced technology, we provide imaging services for all brain, head, neck and spine conditions, including:

Brain Health

Our team provides advanced rapid, advanced imaging services, which is integral to Weill Cornell Medicine’s designation as a Level I stroke and trauma center. We provide imaging care for a variety of conditions, such as:

●      Stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs)

●      Neurodegenerative conditions/dementias, such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)

●      Neurovascular conditions, such as brain aneurysms and cerebrovascular malformations

●      Brain tumors or cancers

●      Demyelinating disorders, such as multiple sclerosis

●      Epilepsy

●      Headache syndromes

●      Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other forms of trauma

Our patients benefit from our highly advanced technology and imaging options. Some of our many imaging and treatment options include:

●      CT perfusion/CT angiography to understand blood flow and supply throughout the brain

●      Advanced MRI options for the brain, including MR perfusion/MR angiography, MR spectroscopy for tumor metabolites, dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) perfusion MRI to assess tumor vascularity, MR diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), functional MRI (fMRI) to analyze brain activity and MR-guided focused ultrasound

●      Three-dimensional high resolution volumetric imaging

●      Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) to assess for hemorrhage

●      Advanced PET scan  options, including FDG, amyloid and DOTATATE PET

Head and Neck Health

Our team provides imaging care for conditions affecting the head and neck, such as:

●      Head and neck cancers

●      Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain

●      Cranial nerve dysfunction, such as Bell’s palsy

●      Sinonasal conditions, including sinusitis

●      Skull base trauma and cranial CSF leaks

●      Infections, such as tonsillitis

●      Eye conditions, such as gradual or sudden changes in vision

Our patients benefit from our highly advanced technology and imaging options. Some of our many imaging and treatment options include:

●      Image-guided biopsies, such as deep face and neck lesions as well as thyroid biopsies

●      Image-guided nerve blocks, including trigeminal nerve, sphenopalatine ganglion and C2 ganglion blocks.

●      Image-guided cisternogram for skull base cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak workup

Spine Health

Our team provides expert spine imaging and image-guided procedures. Our fellowship-trained neuroradiologists collaborate with a variety of providers including spine surgeons, physiatrists, anesthesiologists and neurologists to provide the highest level of spine care.

We diagnose and treat traumatic, degenerative, congenital, post-surgical, autoimmune, infectious and malignant (cancerous) spine conditions.

We specialize in providing high-quality images and procedures to diagnose, manage and improve pain, including back pain. We also provide imaging services for movement conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, cancers of the spine and peripheral neuropathy.

We perform a variety of procedures including:

●      Image-guided lumbar punctures

●      Image-guided CT and MR myelogram

●      Cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) leak evaluation and treatments

●      Image-guided procedures to manage and lessen pain, including nerve blocks, epidural injections, synovial facet cyst treatment and ablations

●      Image-guided spine biopsies

Neuroradiology Care for Children and Adolescents

Our team of expert neuroradiologists provide the best possible imaging care for children and adolescents by prioritizing comfort and high-quality imaging. We collaborate closely with child life specialists, as well as our obstetric (pregnancy) radiology specialists.

We are proud to offer our MRIamaHero! program, designed for children between the ages of four and 15. We also offer Cinemavision, a video and audio tool to reduce stress and claustrophobia. Both of these programs reduce the need for sedation during an MRI for neuroradiology imaging.

Research

The WCM Division of Neuroradiology is an international leader in imaging research to promote brain, head, neck and spine health. For example, our neuroradiologists currently direct projects supported by over $20 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health. In these projects, our neuroradiologists leverage leading imaging techniques to discover new ways to diagnose and treat devastating neurological diseases, like Alzheimer's disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.

Additional research interests of the faculty include traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, head and neck malignancy, normal pressure hydrocephalus, cerebral spinal fluid leaks, susceptibility weighted imaging in vascular disease and parathyroid imaging. Neuroradiology faculty members are very active and have prominent roles in national professional societies, including the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology and the American Society of Neuroradiology.
