Systemic autoimmune diseases, arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders alter the lives of more than 40 million people in the U.S., and arthritis is the most common cause of disability. Rheumatology is the specialty of medicine that cares for people with the more than 100 types of arthritis along with the complex diseases, including lupus, systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), vasculitis and inflammatory muscle disease, that impact the lives of so many patients. The rheumatologists at HSS are acknowledged as the best in the world in diagnosing and caring for patients with these disorders, and they advance medical knowledge and discovery of new therapies through their research studies and education programs. HSS physician scientists and clinicians work together to identify new targets for therapy and apply their insights to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
"I think dr Paget is lovely and brilliant. I can see where he was the best 10 yrs ago. He has moments of being invested in my care. But I often feel like he’s a visiting physician to my case. He will go from being invested and so on the ball to being oddly evasive. I am wondering if he should focus more on consults than being a primary rheumatologist for new patients. His brilliance is needed. I would love to keep him as consulting. I wish I could combine his mind with someone else’s follow through."
"Dr Goodman is amazing. For years I was misdiagnosed and lived with pain. Dr Goodman properly diagnosed me and gave me several treatment options to manage my pain. Together we manage my ankylosing spondylitis and adjust treatment as necessary. I felt compelled to write this when I saw her google reviews. Dr Goodman and her entire team are a definite 5/5 stars"
