Abdominal and Pelvic Imaging
Expert Imaging for All Abdominal and Pelvic Conditions
At Weill Cornell Medicine, our compassionate team of subspecialty-trained abdominopelvic radiologists provide leading diagnostic imaging to diagnose a wide range of conditions and assist your physicians in providing you with the best treatment options.
We understand that living with an abdominal or pelvic condition can be challenging — and that the idea of a diagnosis or treatment may be stressful. We are here to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.
Individualized Imaging Care for Your Abdominal or Pelvic Condition
The Abdominal and Pelvic Imaging Division at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center specializes in imaging of the body including advanced imaging of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and the genitourinary (GU) system.
With fellowship-trained and world-renowned faculty, we provide services including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), PET/CT and PET/MRI.
As leaders in providing low-dose CT imaging and experts in advanced 3D image processing techniques, we provide the safest and most advanced diagnostic imaging care available. With imaging areas of sub-specialization including liver and biliary disease, inflammatory bowel disease, post-bariatric procedure imaging, pancreatic disorders, female pelvic imaging, prostate disease, adrenal abnormalities, as well as diagnosis and follow-up of abdominal and pelvic cancers, our faculty are proud to partner with and support the centers and physicians specializing in these diseases at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center to provide the highest level care and service to our patients.
Using the latest technology, our team of highly trained and experienced radiologists work in conjunction with your treatment team to precisely screen, understand and diagnose your specific health concern. We actively participate in multidisciplinary clinical care conferences to ensure the highest level of collaborative care. After diagnosis, your physician will guide you through the many treatment options and techniques available for your abdominal conditions.
Imaging Services for All Abdominal or Pelvic Conditions
Using the latest technology, our major imaging services include:
● Liver, bile duct and gallbladder: We provide screening for hepatitis and cancer utilizing US, CT and MRI; pre- and post-treatment evaluation (including transarterial chemoembolization, radioembolization and thermal ablations); pre- and post-transplant imaging; liver donor evaluation; MR elastography; state-of-the-art Liver Lab techniques; imaging of right upper quadrant pain, gallstones and inflammation of the gallbladder.
● Endocrine: We provide advanced ultrasound imaging of the thyroid for conditions, including multinodular goiter, thyroid cancer. Imaging of the adrenal glands and other endocrine organs.
● Pancreas: We provide imaging services for solid and cystic pancreatic, benign and malignant cancers, including pancreatic cancer, acute and chronic pancreatitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. Screening for patients at high risk for the development of pancreatic cancer.
● Transplant evaluation: We provide pre-transplant CT and MR evaluation of liver, kidney and pancreas transplant recipients and organ donors, including living-related donors for both kidney and liver transplants, MR, CT and US follow-up of transplant recipients.
● Esophageal, stomach and colon cancers: We provide diagnosis and follow-up imaging of these cancers in conjunction with medical and radiation oncology, gastroenterology and surgery.
● 3T comprehensive prostate imaging: We perform over 1,500 prostate MR annually. We are proud to offer same-day, leading prostate imaging and biopsy for rapid diagnosis of prostate cancer. We perform about 300 targeted fusion biopsies per year in conjunction with the 3D lab and Urology.
● Kidney, bladder, uterus and ovaries (genitourinary): We provide imaging services for kidney/urinary tract/bladder cancers, uterine and ovarian cancer including PET/MR evaluation; pre- and post-treatment imaging after uterine fibroid embolization; dual energy CT imaging of the urinary tract for stones and other inflammatory conditions of the genitourinary system.
● Rectal cancer: We provide pre- and post-treatment 3T MRI evaluation with emphasis on standardized reporting and multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
● Vascular: We provide aneurysm and dissection evaluation, pre- and post-endovascular repair, evaluation of cold-toes, mesenteric vessel evaluation in patients with abdominal pain and pre-operative mapping for autologous breast reconstruction with perforator flaps.
● Inflammatory bowel disease: We provide CT-enterography, MR-enterography and perianal pelvic MRI, including pre- and post-treatment evaluation.
● Molecular imaging: We provide both adult and pediatric PET/CT and PET/MRI.
● CT colonography: We provide screening for colon cancer with CT colonography with 3D software analysis.
● Pelvic floor dysfunction: Our team provides dynamic fluoroscopic and MR defecography for patients with prolapse and other pelvic floor conditions.
