The stroke and neurocritical care team at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell include world-class neurologists with specialty training in vascular neurology and critical care, neurosurgeons, and other neurological subspecialists, as well as dedicated critical care nurse specialists with advanced academic training and experience. Together, team members create a customized plan of care for each patient. They also meet regularly to evaluate each patient's condition and progress, combining their expertise to deliver superior care.
The majority of our doctors are "niche" specialists, meaning they have further training, experience, and focused specialization in a particular area of neurology, such as:
- Stroke in patients with cancer
- Stroke resulting from atrial fibrillation
- Stroke from acute trauma to the brain and spinal cord
- Brain injury from bleeding or brain swelling related to pregnancy
- Stroke risk in patients with migraine headaches
The team works closely with specialists in interventional neuroradiology, emergency medicine, and rehabilitation medicine to provide seamless, coordinated treatment for the entire range of acute brain injuries.
Our group has received a number of awards for clinical excellence, and many of our physicians have been named to Castle and Connolly's list of America's Top Doctors.
