Expert Imaging for All Breast Conditions
At Weill Cornell Medicine, we offer advanced breast screening and diagnostic imaging services for our patients. The goal of breast screening is to find breast cancers when they are very small and most easily treatable. Diagnostic breast imaging can help evaluate the cause of various breast symptoms.
At Weill Cornell Medicine, our compassionate team of radiologists provides diagnostic imaging so that your doctors can understand your breast health and, if needed, determine the best possible treatment options. By capturing detailed images, we support you as you achieve the best possible health and quality of life.
Individualized Care to Understand Your Breast Health
Using the latest technology, our team of highly trained and experienced radiologists will work with your physician to precisely screen, understand and diagnose your specific health concern. After diagnosis, your physician will guide you through the many treatment options and techniques available for your breast conditions.
We provide:
● Mammography: A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast that helps doctors detect cancer. There are three different types of mammograms: standard, digital and three dimensional.
● Ultrasound: A breast ultrasound is an imaging procedure that uses sound waves to gather images of breast tissue. This procedure is useful, in addition to other imaging procedures, because it can capture images of all areas of the breast, including the area closest to the chest wall.
● Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): An MRI imaging procedure uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio waves to capture images of breast tissue. For most MRIs, a dye is used to help doctors detect changes in blood flow, inflammation or some types of cancer.
Breast Conditions
Using the latest technology, our imaging services detect and diagnose:
● Cysts: A condition where a fluid-filled sac develops in the breast tissue.
● Breast cancer: Our imaging services help identify and detect signs of breast cancer, including early-stage breast cancer.
● Fibroadenomas: Solid, smooth, benign (non-cancerous) lumps that develop in the breast tissue.
