If your child needs to stay overnight in our inpatient setting, they will be cared for by a multidisciplinary team dedicated to caring for them. This team includes doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, child life specialists, and physical and occupational therapists, among others. Our pediatric hospital medicine attendings also care for thousands of babies each year in the newborn nursery.
During your child’s stay, a hospitalist from may oversee your child’s care. A hospitalist is a pediatrician who specializes in caring for children while they are in the hospital.
A Family Centered Approach
As hospitalists, we use a family centered approach. This means we see your family as key partners while your child is in the hospital because you know your child better than anyone else. Each morning, we will do family centered rounds where we meet with patients and families. During this time, we will talk with you about how your child is doing, conduct a physical exam, and develop a plan for the day. We value your input and questions at any time.
We Work With Your Child’s Primary Care Provider
Most primary care providers choose to have our hospitalists care for their patients when they need to be hospitalized because of our specialized training and the high-quality care that we give.
