The Department of Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens is dedicated to educating and improving the care of our patients by providing the highest level of complex and innovative surgical care, while upholding the department’s mission of clinical practice, clinical research, and education. Our faculty includes highly regarded and nationally recognized surgeons, who continue to contribute significantly to the enhancement of surgical quality of care and overall patient experience across our institution.
Our clinical programs are enhanced by an expansive team of physicians, nurses and other health professionals dedicated to providing the very best care for patients. The surgical faculty is organized into divisions that include:

The Knight in the Shining Armor has a name: Dr. Nitsana Spigland. When your oh-so-expected and already so-so-loved newborn baby is born with a health challenge that requires surgery, it’s like living your worst nightmare. But then Dr. Spigland comes in and literally saves your whole world.
Dr. Kadenhe-Chiweshe performed an emergency appendectomy on my six year old son. She was absolutely lovely. She made my son laugh and made us parents feel really good about the surgery. She’s a true gem.
We will forever be grateful for Dr Chiweshe after she operated on our newborn baby. She has been clear and concise when explaining to us the procedure and the many steps that followed. Along with being extremely patient and caring.
