Immunopathology

The Immunopathology Laboratory is part of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the New York Presbyterian Hospital - Cornell Medical Center. The Immunopathology Laboratory personnel perform a variety of immunophenotyic analytic tests including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and in situ hybridization. The majority of the flow cytometry tests are for the analysis of leukemias and lymphomas while immunohistochemical studies for all types of reactive and neoplastic proliferations are performed. The laboratory performs approximately 75,000 immunophenotypic tests per year.

Neuropathology

The neuropathology service provides diagnosis and consultations on the pathology of the brain, spinal cord, meninges, peripheral nerve and muscle. Both adult neuropathology and pediatric neuropathology are covered. All aspects of pathology are included: tumors, vascular diseases, infectious, inflammatory, demyelinating, toxic, metabolic, traumatic, and neurodegenerative diseases. Services include intraoperative consultations, surgical neuropathology, forensic neuropathology, and autopsy neuropathology.

Surgical Pathology

Surgical Pathology has been described as the "“Pathology of the Living".” It is an evaluation that results in a diagnosis on tissues removed from any organ of the body. As such, it includes a number of subspecialties. Among these are Breast Pathology, GI pathology, GU Pathology, GYN pathology, Hematopathology, Neuropathology, Placental and Perinatal Pathology, and Renal pathology. Molecular and Genomic Pathology

The focus of the Molecular and Genomic Pathology Division is to provide Weill Cornell Medicine physicians with molecular information that will facilitate the diagnosis of diseases, monitor the prognosis of the patients and assist in the selection of appropriate therapeutic options. Our state-of-the-art facility uses innovative genomic technologies to interrogate and identify disease related entities in solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, infectious diseases and inherited diseases.
