Maintaining and Strengthening Relationships While Social Distancing

As part of the New York State on PAUSE plan, all non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason—parties, celebrations, or other social events—are temporarily banned. When in public, you must practice social distancing by staying at least six feet from others.

Relationships and collaborations with for-profit and not-for profit organizations are of vital importance to our faculty because these exchanges of scientific information foster innovation. As experts in their fields, WCM physicians and scientists are sought after by many organizations to consult and educate. Pulmonary - Inpatient Only Upper East Side

We provide 24-hour, in-hospital coverage of the Medical Intensive Care Units at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, the #1 hospital in NYC 18 years running. NewYork-Presbyterian is the only hospital in the nation with statistically better mortality rates in all six of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 30-day mortality measures: heart failure, pneumonia, COPD, heart attack, stroke, and coronary artery bypass graft.

Pulmonary - Lower Manhattan

We have a spacious, newly constructed outpatient office, with short wait times to be seen by one of our expert pulmonologists. Our physicians are general pulmonologists who treat and diagnose a wide variety of pulmonary disease including shortness of breath, cough, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary nodules, and infections of the respiratory system.  We perform both spirometry testing as well as full pulmonary function testing, and have radiology services in the same building.

COVID-19 Treatment Depends Upon Disease Severity

How COVID-19 presents itself will vary from patient to patient, but typical symptoms include fever, cough, and fatigue, as well impaired taste and smell, and lack of appetite.

COVID-19: Why is it mild for some, deadly for others?

Among the confounding aspects of the novel coronavirus is the wide range of disease severity patients experience. While a minority of COVID-19 patients require hospitalization, the effects of infection for these people are dramatic and in some cases life threatening.

Navigating COVID-19 with a Chronic Condition

As this is a new virus, scientists and doctors are still learning how to treat it, as well as how it affects different people, including those living with chronic conditions.
