Advanced Treatments and Technology
As our patient at Weill Cornell Medicine, all of your treatments are performed by a board-certified dermatologist. Drawing on their combined medical and cosmetic expertise, your doctor will develop an effective and comprehensive care plan that may include the following treatment options:
Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau): FDA-approved botulinum toxin reduces the appearance of dynamic lines and wrinkles by reducing specific facial muscle movements. The cosmetic dermatologists at Weill Cornell Medicine use the most up-to-date techniques for administering neuromodulators to promote a healthy and natural appearance.
We offer all the FDA-approved biosimilar neuromodulator agents and will work with you to determine the best option for you.
Cosmetic fillers (Juvéderm/Voluma collection, Restylane collection, Belotero Balance, Radiesse, Sculptra): Facial volume loss due to bone, fat and muscle atrophy with age causes hollowing and redraping of the skin that leads to a prominent appearance of wrinkles and skin folds. Soft tissue augmentation with cosmetic fillers is a safe, minimally invasive procedure to restore volume and promote a more youthful appearance. These fillers can also be used to soften the appearance of scars.
We offer non-permanent and semi-permanent, FDA-approved fillers and will work with you to determine the best option for you.
Chemical peels: Light, medium and deep chemical peels are applied to the skin causing the surface layer to “peel away,” revealing smoother, more even, fresh skin beneath. Our cosmetic dermatologists will recommend the best options to help you achieve your cosmetic goals, such as reducing discoloration, fine lines, acne, acne scars or improving your skin’s overall tone and texture. At the Center for Diverse Skin Complexions, we offer safe and effective chemical peels for our patients of color.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP): PRP is obtained by drawing a sample of the patient’s own blood and spinning it down to the concentrated platelet-rich portion that contains stimulating growth factors and proteins that are injected to promote new skin or hair production. A series of PRP treatments may be applied to the scalp to help patients with hair loss, often in combination with other topical or medical treatments to achieve thicker, denser, longer hair. PRP can also be injected in the facial skin to improve skin texture, color, fine lines and volume loss concerns.
Microneedling: Microneedling uses a device with fine needles that pierce the skin to stimulate new collagen production leading to a smoother and firmer appearance of the skin. A series of treatments is often required for optimal improvement in acne scars, fine lines and pore size. When combined with PRP, faster recovery and greater collagen production can be achieved with each treatment.
Thread lifts: A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure using absorbable sutures that are placed under the skin to tighten and lift drooping or sagging skin with minimal recovery time. This procedure can also stimulate collagen production for a longer-lasting result, especially when combined with neuromodulators and soft tissue augmentation.
Sclerotherapy: Small varicose veins and spider veins on the legs can be injected with a medicated solution to clamp down the vessels causing them to fade. Sometimes several treatments are required.
Fat reduction: Kybella (deoxycholic acid) is the only FDS-approved, non-surgical, injectable fat-reduction treatment that can reduce excess fat underneath the chin. Optimal results may be achieved with a series of treatments.
Laser treatments: Weill Cornell Medicine uses the latest laser technology and leading equipment available in New York City.
Laser treatments use concentrated light to selectively heat and destroy targeted areas of the skin without damaging healthy tissue. Different laser devices can be used to improve a variety of skin concerns — including pigmented spots, sun damage, unwanted visible blood vessels, redness and the removal of unwanted tattoos or hair. Laser therapy can also be used to improve skin tone and texture, as well as to address scars, pore size or wrinkles.
Our patients take comfort knowing that our dermatologists have the extensive training and experience needed to provide safe and effective laser treatments for all skin tones. Our team personalizes laser treatments to:
● Resurface the skin of the face, skin around the bust and neckline, hands; our team uses the PicoWay picosecond laser (one- to two-day recovery), the non-ablative fractional Fraxel erbium/thulium laser (three- to seven-day recovery) and the ablative fractional carbon dioxide laser (seven- to 14-day recovery)
● Reduce redness from rosacea, small vessels and red spots using the V-beam Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL)
