For more than 20 years, the experts at the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation have been providing some of the most advanced, yet personalized, care to individuals affected by liver disease.
Our team is part of one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers and partners with NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the top hospitals in New York. Our program is one of the highest-volume programs in the nation, meaning that many patients entrust their care to us. Our program is internationally renowned for its expertise and excellence in the management of chronic liver disease, living donor transplantation, and hepatobiliary surgery in patients of all ages.
We have one of the highest success rates and the shortest wait times for liver transplants in New York state and nationwide. And with one of the highest liver transplantation volumes in the country, we not only perform these procedures regularly, but are also familiar with the various scenarios that can present themselves before, during, and after liver transplantation.
The center’s surgical expertise, experience and resources also allow us to transplant patients who would normally be denied elsewhere. We are among the few programs nationwide that provides transplantation as an option for patients co-infected with Hepatitis C or HIV as well as those with cancer of the bile ducts.
We offer liver transplant for patients with alcohol-associated hepatitis and alcohol associated cirrhosis with limited sobriety; we support these patients using a comprehensive multidisciplinary care model.
Patients may be able to participate in clinical trials at Weill Cornell Medicine, giving them access to new therapies that might not be available at other medical institutions.
At the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation, we favor a collaborative approach to patient care, which allows us to personalize each of our patients’ treatments. Working with each person under our care, the center’s highly experienced clinical team — made up more than 100 specialists and staff from multiple disciplines — strive every day to provide seamless and compassionate treatment.

What Our Patients Are Saying
Very informative, friendly and pleasant exchange. Removal of drain from side was quick and painless.
He was very knowledgeable and took great care of explaining things
Dr. Chandwani is a very genuine and caring doctor. He sat with me and my family for an hour getting my medical history, reviewing my diagnosis, and explaining my surgery plan. He hand-drew diagrams of my anatomy and detailed each step precisely. I feel very confident that my treatment will be smooth sailing in Dr. Chandwani's hands.
