Individualized Treatments for Perimenopause and Menopause Symptoms

Menopause affects everyone differently, making it important to receive care from a trained gynecologist who is committed to understanding and improving your individual symptoms.

During your visits, you and your gynecologist will discuss your symptoms and develop a unique treatment plan to minimize discomfort. Next, you will discuss ways to improve your overall health and well-being for many years to come.

Treatment options for menopause symptoms:  If, at any stage, menopause causes you discomfort, treatment is available. You do not need to live with discomfort.

You and your gynecologist will discuss all treatment options, including hormone therapies, lifestyle changes, self-care strategies, nutritional changes, vaginal lubricants, strategies to improve sleep and reduce stress, as well as non-hormonal prescription medications.

Integrated care: An increasing body of research shows that integrative health practices — when used collaboratively with your physician’s care plan — can improve menopausal symptoms and increase long-term health.

The experts at the Weill Cornell Medicine Integrative Health and Well-Being Program can offer you guidance about nutrition, herbal supplements and plant-based hormones. The team also offers acupuncture, mind-body therapies and relaxation technique training.

Multidisciplinary Care for Long-Term Health

In addition to causing uncomfortable symptoms, menopause can also lead to changes in your metabolism, digestion, bone density and cardiovascular health.

To promote your long-term well-being, your gynecologist will monitor your health closely. Based on your medical history, lifestyle goals and overall health, your gynecologist will determine if you will benefit from osteoporosis screening, specialized cardiovascular care or other specialized care.
