Weill Cornell Medicine’s endocrine surgeons and specialized staff aim to provide comprehensive care for a full range of diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid gland, adrenal gland, as well as endocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas – from the more common and benign disorders to relatively rare cancers.
Our experts provide personalized care for each patient from the first visit, through surgery and follow-up care after surgery. With our team of dedicated surgeons, professional support staff, and physicians in nuclear medicine and pathology, we can deliver medical options that are tailored to each patient's needs.
Our program offers cutting-edge treatments that reduce recovery time and offer patients options for surgical approach.
Using minimally invasive techniques in parathyroid and thyroid surgery, our team aims to reduce the appearance of neck scars. Adrenal and pancreatic surgery is routinely approached laparoscopically using a thin, lighted tube inserted through small incisions, which allows most patients to shorten their recovery time and more quickly return to normal daily activity.
In addition to providing outstanding individualized clinical care, we are committed to advancing the field of Endocrine and Minimally Invasive Surgery through research and education with the goal of finding better treatments that not only cure patients, but also improve their quality of life.

Dr. Thomas Fahey, head of the Endocrine and Minimally Invasive Surgery program at Weill Cornell Medicine, explains why patients should turn to its team of experts, which specializes in minimally-invasive surgical techniques.
"Dr. Zarnegar is my hero! Not that I have any medical expertise or experience but he is excellent all around and I highly recommend him if you need surgical care. Take it from someone who never had surgery in his entire life. I did plenty of research in my efforts to line up the right doctor at the right time to get a hernia repaired, one that I had been prolonging for years. I had consulted with nearly a half a dozen surgeons from the Eastern end of Long Island to NYC, from some of the top medical institutions. I always knew I had a right inguinal hernia, but among the consultations I had, Dr. Zarnegar was the only surgeon to identify that I had not just one but three hernias: left and right inguinal hernias plus an umbilical hernia. Only one other surgeon picked up on the umbilical hernia in addition to the right inguinal. Given the cost of healthcare today, can you imagine what the out-of-pocket expense would have been if I had to endure 3 separate surgeries rather than the one"
"Very thorough and explained everything in great detail! Very willing to answer any questions and address all your concerns. Dr. Marti also will respect YOUR opinions and concerns which not many doctors do. Willing to listen and open to your ideas and thoughts on treatment whether she agrees with you or not."
"I thought the Dr. was very thorough. Not only that what I liked most is that he try's to rule out every posibility so as not to operate. For a surgeon that is commendable."
