Women's Heart Program

The Women’s Heart Program at Weill Cornell Medicine provides highly personal, private and compassionate care for all cardiovascular conditions, including preventive care.

Our team of highly experienced cardiologists believes that you deserve the best possible heart care — and are passionate about helping you live a full, healthy life.

Heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death for women in the U.S. Until recently, most research about heart disease and cardiovascular medicine was based on studies focused on men. The Women’s Heart Program at Weill Cornell Medicine addresses the gender inequities in cardiovascular care by educating our patients about women’s heart health, providing screening and testing, helping women reduce their chances of heart disease with preventative care and providing leading treatments for all types of heart disease.

Fortunately, women’s long-term cardiovascular health can be significantly improved when these conditions and risks are identified and treated early. The Weill Cornell Medicine Women’s Heart Program is dedicated to helping our patients achieve lifelong heart health. Learn more about women’s unique heart health and who we care for.

Why Choose the Women's Heart Program at Weill Cornell Medicine?

Exceptional physicians who empower women: The Women’s Heart Program at Weill Cornell Medicine is led by women cardiologists, many of whom are women of color, who are passionate about helping you lead healthy, full and happy lives.

Our cardiologists have extensive knowledge of women’s heart health, cardiac risk factors for women, as well as the stigmas and anxieties surrounding heart disease in women. Our expert cardiologists identify women with an increased risk for heart disease, slow disease development and progression, and develop treatment strategies to optimize their long-term health.

Personalized, supportive heart care for long-term health: Our doctors work closely with you to understand your concerns and long-term goals for your health. We then focus on empowering you with information and knowledge about your health and care, as well as discussing all appropriate options with you.

We encourage you to be an active participant in your care and strive to help you make the best decisions for you and your life.

When you become a patient, your cardiologist will evaluate your cardiovascular and overall health. This includes talking through your medical history, family medical history, a discussion of your lifestyle and a lipid panel analysis. If needed, you may undergo diagnostic testing or imaging to better understand your specific conditions, such as echocardiogram, stress test or computed tomography (CT) scan.

The information gathered during this appointment will help your cardiologist determine the best ways to improve your cardiovascular health.
