The service also provides other imaging services at nearby facilities, including full-body and brain MRI. Appointments can be scheduled in advance to coordinate with visits to other physicians at the Center.
Internal Medicine
The internists are the cornerstone of comprehensive and preventive healthcare for women. It is the role of the internist to oversee and coordinate the referral of women to subspecialists, to diagnostic testing and then to formulate an overall plan for the achievement and maintenance of good health with their patients.
The patient and the physician work together to develop a schedule for preventive testing which takes into account personal and family history.
Should a referral to a subspecialty be needed, the internist can arrange for the patient to meet with Center physicians in a host of specialties.
Routine and preventive diagnostic testing such as mammography, pelvic ultrasound and bone densitometry are available on-site. Wellness care including exercise programs and nutritional counseling are part of regular care as well.
Internists at the Iris Cantor Women's Health Center provide yearly preventive physical examinations, routine visits and ready access to sick visits as needed.
Nutrition
The Center's certified dietician and nutritionist is an expert in providing education and counseling about healthy eating, preventive nutrition, and lifestyle choices.
In addition, the nutritionist participates as a key member of the Center's medical care team providing nutrition therapy and assistance with:
- Diabetes management
- Diet recommendations in kidney disease such as modified protein, sodium and potassium
- Dietary guidelines for heart disease, including restricting cholesterol, sodium and fat
- Nutritional concerns of patients with cancer
- Nutritional needs during periods of growth and development, such as pregnancy, childhood, and adolescence
- Weight control (including behavior modification)
The nutritionist sees patients who wish to follow a healthier lifestyle and improve their general well-being.
The Center's ongoing research in the field ensures that patients receive the most appropriate and effective new approaches to diet and nutrition.

What Our Patients Are Saying
"Dr. A gave me confidence during my treatment. She is forthright, but in a kind way. She explained everything and made me and my family feel very comfortable with our decisions. Once, she passed me on the sidewalk and said hi before I even noticed her. That meant a lot to me. She knows who I am. In NYC we have some of the top doctors in the world, but at other hospitals, I felt like I was on a conveyor belt. With Dr. A, I wasn't just a number. I got world-class medicine AND personal attention."
"Amazing Dr. Talmor is a remarkable person and a brilliant surgeon. I had spoken to several surgeons first, but the moment I met with her I knew she was the one I wanted to do my surgery. I am thrilled with my decision. Everyone on the staff is a rare blend of professionalism and kindness."
"Dr. Swistel is a remarkably kind and caring man, and a brilliant surgeon. He cares about his patients as human beings, not bodies with a cancer to be removed. I feel incredibly safe in his hands."
