Neuropathology

The neuropathology service provides diagnosis and consultations on the pathology of the brain, spinal cord, meninges, peripheral nerve and muscle. Both adult neuropathology and pediatric neuropathology are covered. All aspects of pathology are included: tumors, vascular diseases, infectious, inflammatory, demyelinating, toxic, metabolic, traumatic, and neurodegenerative diseases. Services include intraoperative consultations, surgical neuropathology, forensic neuropathology, and autopsy neuropathology. Studies of neuropathology cases also include supplementary services such as immunohistochemistry, molecular analysis, muscle histochemical studies, electronmicroscopy, and teased-fiber preparations for peripheral nerve analysis.
