Breast Pathology

The Division of Breast Pathology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine offers complete consultation services for breast biopsies by our expert pathologists, including:

• Routine H&E interpretation
• Case review of invasive ductal and lobular carcinomas, in-situ, metastatic, recurrent, and other breast cancers
• Comprehensive immunohistochemistry, including prognostic markers (estrogen and progesterone receptors, Ki-67, and HER-2/neu)
• Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for HER-2/neu
• Electron microscopy to assist with diagnosis when needed
• Expert consultants for cross-specialty consultations to collaborate on the diagnosis of complex cases
• Recommendations on therapy
• Rapid turnaround time (typically 48 business hours from receipt of slides), with the final report faxed immediately
