About Us
Weill Cornell Medicine physicians specializing in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism provide a collaborative team approach, with comprehensive case management and development of individualized treatment plans for patients. Our medical team is composed of diabetologists, a certified diabetes educator, and a registered dietician, all working together to ensure that patients receive 360(r) support to manage their diabetes and endocrine conditions.
We provide care for patients with general and reproductive endocrinology concerns, including gender-affirming care for transgender and gender diverse individuals, osteoporosis and metabolic bone conditions, thyroid disease, adrenal and pituitary disorders and weight management.
Our doctors-New York City-based physicians-offer specialty care in thyroid disease, with particular emphasis on thyroid cancer, and in the prevention of the recurrence of kidney stones. If surgery is needed for the treatment of an endocrine disorder, an endocrine surgeon is on site as part of our comprehensive team.
Specialized endocrinology care for children is also available, providing treatment for childhood hypertension, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, diabetes, as well as disorders relating to bone minerals and metabolism, thyroid problems, and disorders of growth, development, puberty and sex differentiation.
Patients looking for first-rate and compassionate care from a leading endocrinology and diabetes physician in New York will find the help they need at Weill Cornell Medicine.

An excellent, caring, brilliant doctor.
Dr. Afaneh is a highly skilled physician. One of his specialties is robotic surgery. He explains things well, and takes the time to answer questions. And he is kind.
Couldn’t be more pleased with my visit with Dr. Simmons and her staff. I was thoroughly informed and treated with care and redpect.
