Pelvic pain can be a frustrating condition because it has many overlapping causes and is often difficult to accurately diagnose. Many women who experience pelvic pain have sought evaluation by many physicians only to be left without a diagnosis or treatment plan.
Patients with a history of pelvic pain can develop tension, weakness, dysfunction, irritation and sensitivity in these areas. Symptoms may include pain or pressure in the vagina or rectum, pain with sexual intercourse, pain or problems urinating or defecating and groin or lower back pain.
At Weill Cornell Medicine, our physicians are experts in the non-surgical evaluation and management of pelvic pain due to muscles, joints, nerves, and bone problems.
Our physicians do a thorough review of a patient’s history and perform comprehensive examination to help determine the correct treatment path for each person they treat. Working as a team, our healthcare experts provide diagnostic work ups, medication management, physical therapy, nerve blocks, and pelvic floor injections.
We also work with other physicians to coordinate your care since many pelvic pain conditions require multidisciplinary care.
