Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus in adults. Hysterectomy is a procedure that can include removal of the uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. Hysterectomy with removal of your ovaries ends the ability to be a biological parent without prior fertility preservation. It is performed via minimally invasive surgical techniques, either vaginally or laparoscopically. A hysterectomy is typically an outpatient procedure, meaning you would be discharged home the same day; however, some patients may require observation in the hospital overnight.
Surgery requirements*:
- 18+ years old
- World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines must be met
- Must have a support person to bring you home from the hospital
Further details regarding surgical requirements will be discussed with your provider during your initial consultation appointment.
