WCM Surgeon Named Chair of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation

The Lung Cancer Research Foundation recently elected Weill Cornell Medicine's Dr. Brendon M. Stiles as the new chair of its Board of Directors.

LCRF is a nonprofit organization focused on supporting lung cancer research, the number one cause of cancer death worldwide, according to its website. The organization funds research for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of lung cancer.

"It's truly an honor to be elected as the chair of LCRF's Board of Directors," Dr. Stiles said in a statement. "Each LCRF board member has been personally affected by lung cancer. It's inspiring to be among this group of individuals who are so committed to fighting this deadly disease."

Dr. Stiles is a thoracic surgeon who specializes in lung cancer, esophageal cancer and other thoracic disorders. He is also the Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine, and a lung cancer researcher and advocate for lung cancer patients.

In addition to his new role at LCRF, Dr. Stiles was appointed as Co-Chairman of the ASCO:SBRT in Early-Stage NSCLC Guideline Endorsement Panel and as Chair of the two peer review panels within the Lung Cancer Research Program of the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).
