CBS New York recently profiled a Weill Cornell Medicine surgeon and patient, whose entire aorta was replaced by a polyester version to save her life.
Dr. Leonard Girardi, the Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine, explained why Florence O’Sullivan, who has Marfan syndrome, needed the new aorta and how the man-made version functions.
