Visitor Policy Changes

While we understand that visitation and caretakers are extremely important to the recovery and general well-being of our patients, the following updates have been made to protect patients, particularly high-risk, immunocompromised individuals who may be seeking treatment at our locations, as well as our healthcare staff serving the community.

Updated on Sunday, May 3, 2020

Out-Patient Services (Weill Cornell Medicine Practice Locations)

  • Adult patients with appointments at any of our practice locations, can no longer be accompanied by a visitor.
  • Some exceptions may be made if medically necessary. This may include patients who require mobility assistance or cognitive support. Patients scheduled for outpatient procedures may be accompanied by one caretaker or assistant. Please contact your practice prior to arriving.
  • Patients who are granted exceptions due to medical necessity will only be allowed one caretaker.
  • For Pediatric visits, only one caretaker may accompany minors for all outpatient services.
  • All patients and caretakers must wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Any caretaker who is coughing or shows any signs of illness will be required to wear a mask or asked to leave, if deemed appropriate by our healthcare team.
  • During the visit, patients are encouraged to keep in contact with their loved ones through virtual means, including Skype, FaceTime, and/or by phone. Staff will assist patients if needed.
