♦ Virtual Visit: Delivering the same level of world-class care, with exceptional convenience.

It is my priority to treat every patient with a personalized and compassionate approach, while striving to offer state-of-the-art treatment options for complex endocrine and general surgical diseases. Understanding the importance of delivering thorough and timely care, I provide diagnostic services during your initial surgical consultation, including neck ultrasound, fine needle aspiration biopsy, and flexible laryngoscopy. If surgery is necessary, I offer minimally-invasive surgical approaches such as laparoscopic and robotic techniques in order to minimize post-operative pain, scarring, and length of hospitalization. Using a multidisciplinary approach to treat these complex diseases, I work closely with colleagues in endocrinology, oncology, gastroenterology, radiology, and pathology to integrate medical and surgical treatment options, as well as to orchestrate attentive long-term follow-up. Lastly, I deeply value advancing diagnostic and treatment quality for patients, which is why I dedicate time outside of the clinic and operating room to actively lead research investigations in Endocrine Oncology and General Surgery.

He has a focus in providing minimally-invasive surgical options, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques, with the main goal of decreasing post-operative pain, scarring, and length of hospital stay. Dr. Finnerty also provides bedside diagnostic services during your initial surgical consultation, including neck ultrasound examination, fine needle aspiration biopsy, and flexible laryngoscopy to evaluate your vocal cords.Dr. Finnerty is also the Director of Interventional Endocrine Surgery.  He has expertise in radiofrequency ablation and ethanol ablation of thyroid nodules and cysts.  These treatments are non-surgical options to treat carefully-selected thyroid nodules, cysts, and cancers (https://weillcornell.org/endocrine-oncology). Dr. Finnerty’s academic interests are in clinical and translational research in the field of Endocrine Oncology, with a focus in studying the mechanisms of tumor growth and metastasis in endocrine and neuroendocrine tumors.  He has authored many publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as book chapters in surgical textbooks, and has presented his research at national surgical meetings including the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society, and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract.
