Prior to joining the Institute, Dr. Rameau was an otolaryngology resident at Stanford University and then a fellow at UC Davis Medical School, under the mentorship of Peter Belafsky, MD MPH PhD. Dr. Rameau’s clinical goals are to provide expert and compassionate care for patients with dysphagia both in the clinic and in the operating room, and to restore patients’ swallowing function via advanced diagnostics technology, as well as refined endoscopic and surgical treatments. Her research lab, the Laryngology Innovation Lab, aims to disrupt and innovate the fields of voice, deglutition and airway science, via transdisciplinary collaborations with engineers, bio-acousticians, designers and social scientists. Through her clinical and research work, she is dedicated to finding preventative and restorative solutions to improve swallowing and decrease aspiration risk in patients with dementia, stroke, movement disorders and inflammatory myopathies. She is developing expertise in the use of artificial intelligence in the diagnostic streamlining of laryngological and swallowing disorders. In addition, Dr. Rameau is passionate about global health, and has maintained an active relationship with the Otolaryngology Department at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare. Dr. Rameau is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology and Fellow of the Triological Society, a distinction that only 5% of otolaryngologists achieve in the country.
