Biographical Info

Dr. Savarese, a native of New York, received his training in anesthesiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he also completed a fellowship in neuromuscular physiology and pharmacology under Richard Kitz and in the laboratories of several scientists at Burroughs Wellcome Co. Dr. Savarese is known for his research in the development, chemistry, metabolism, pharmacology, and clinical application of the benzylisoquinolinium class of relaxants. Following a 17-year career at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Dr. Savarese moved to Cornell University Medical College (Weill Medical College of Cornell University) and The New York Hospital (New York-Presbyterian Hospital) in 1989, where he is Professor and Chair.
