About Barbara Michelle Strong, MD, FACOG
Growing up in the inner city of Oakland, California, at a time where medical services were not easily accessible for many of the individuals in my community provided me with an understanding of many of the challenges individuals may face in these communities. I have observed firsthand how lack of knowledge or inability to access reproductive services can greatly impact the trajectory of an individual’s life. I have always hoped that, through a career in obstetrics and gynecology, I would be able to help empower young women from these communities with knowledge, options, and the opportunity to break free from their community norms.
Dr. Barbara Michelle Strong is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and her medical degree from the Charles R. Drew/University of California at Los Angeles Medical Education Program, with a focus in leadership in underserved communities. Dr. Strong completed her residency training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital Integrated Residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Following graduation, Dr. Strong joined the faculty at Montefiore Medical Center, where she had a specific interest in residency education and obstetric simulations. Dr. Strong served at the Director of Obstetric Simulations for the residents.
Dr. Strong specializes in various areas of obstetrics and gynecology, including comprehensive gynecologic care, gynecologic surgery, preventative care, prenatal care, management of labor and delivery, and contraceptive health services. She is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate evidence-based medical care.
