About Veronica (Roni) Yamane, M.S.
I was drawn to the field of genetics because of the ability to understand the etiology behind complex genetic conditions and how this understanding can empower and provide options for the best plan of care for patients and their families. As a genetic counselor, my aim is to provide patient-centered, collaborative, and empathic care to families as they undergo genetic evaluations and adjust to genetic diagnoses over the course of their lives.
Veronica (Roni) Yamane is a pediatric genetic counselor at Weill Cornell Medicine. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and biology at the University of California, Los Angeles. She then went on to receive a Master of Science from the Joan H. Marks Graduate Program in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College. As a graduate student, Veronica's thesis involved surveying families with a genetic finding associated with autism, and she additionally enjoyed tutoring individuals with Down syndrome.
Prior to joining the genetics team at Weill Cornell Medicine, Veronica worked as a preconception and prenatal genetic counselor at Hudson Valley Perinatal Associates and gained valuable insight into the field of reproductive genetics.
Veronica is board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and is interested in participating in education.
