About Ulunma Natalie Umesi, M.D.
Dr. Umesi completed her adult psychiatry training with One Brooklyn Health, followed by child & adolescent psychiatry training with Yale Child Study Center at Yale School of Medicine. During her final year of fellowship training, she completed certification within the International Programme in Addiction Studies, in collaboration with Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Dr. Umesi’s clinical and academic interests include addiction and harm reduction, ADHD, PMDD, and mood disorders, with a particular interest in understanding the ways these conditions intersect across the lifespan. Experience within acute care, crisis stabilization, ambulatory and state-funded behavioral health settings allows Dr. Umesi to utilize a compassionate, evidence-based, culturally responsive and trauma-informed approach to treatment. Dr. Umesi is a certified Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, with a focus on attachment and strengthening secure relationships between caregivers and children. She is also passionate about mental health literacy education in the community.
