Biographical Info

Stephen Merola, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is an attending surgeon, Chief of Surgery, and Surgeon-in-Chief of General, Minimally Invasive, and Bariatric Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens.

Dr. Merola is a board-certified General Surgeon, specializing in Bariatric Surgery. He also specializes in the surgical treatment of obesity, hiatal and abdominal wall hernias, gallbladder disease, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

He received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, completed both his residency and fellowship in General Surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery with clinical interest in obesity surgery, minimally invasive surgery and general surgery.
