About Sangeeta Kashyap, M.D.
Sangeeta R. Kashyap, MD is Professor of Clinical Medicine and Assistant Chief of Clinical Affairs in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Weill Cornell Medicine/NewYork-Presbyterian. She oversees clinical operations within the division while mentoring faculty in clinical scholarship, research, and career development.
Dr. Kashyap is an internationally recognized physician-scientist whose research focuses on precision metabolic medicine, type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) disease, and metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Her work has advanced understanding of the pathophysiology of insulin resistance and the long-term outcomes of both surgical and non-surgical interventions for obesity and diabetes. She has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous NIH-sponsored clinical trials and continues to lead investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies aimed at improving cardiometabolic health.A dedicated educator, Dr. Kashyap is Co-Chair of the Endocrine Society Board Review Course and has completed a five-year term as Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (JCEM). She is passionate about translating evidence into clinical practice and mentoring the next generation of endocrinologists and clinical investigators.
Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Kashyap was Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and served as Associate Program Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship Program.
