Personal Statement

I am an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. As the Director of Echocardiography Innovation, I specialize in cardiac imagng and general cardiology. I have extensive experience as a cardiac imager including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and structural heart disease. I practice general cardiology with a focus on valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, and prevention. I am a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography.

Biographical Info

Dr. Laighold was born and raised in New York City and attended high school near Weill Cornell. Dr. Laighold graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, and then attended Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2006 and his fellowship in cardiology at North Shore University Hospital/LIJ Medical Center in 2009.

Dr. Laighold joined the faculty in 2024 from Northwell Health where he had worked since 2009. He previously was the Director of Clinical Cardiology at Southside Hospital and the Director of Noninvasive Structural Heart Program at North Shore University Hospital.
