About Roy William Smetana, M.D., Ph.D.
Roy Smetana, M.D., Ph.D is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health . He evaluates and treats adult patients and is a provider of inpatient and outpatient electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in Westchester.
He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry. Dr. Smetana completed his undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Human Biology at Emory University. He went on to graduate from The Medical Scientist Training (MD/PhD) Program at The University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Smetana’s thesis research focused on furthering understanding of the neuralcircuitry that underlies locomotor behavior. Dr. Smetana went on to completehis Psychiatry Residency at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, thepsychiatric division of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
