Biographical Info

Dr. Cotzia received his medical degree from the University of Milan (Italy) in 2009, followed by post-doctoral research in Neurobiology at the Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his medical training in the USA, as a Resident in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (2012-2016) at Jefferson, followed by Fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in Oncologic Surgical Pathology (2016-2017) and Molecular Pathology (2017-2018). Following his training, he served on the Pathology Department Faculty at the New York University/Langone Health from 2018-2021, serving as a clinical Anatomic (Breast) Pathologist and Molecular Pathologist as well as the Associate Director of NYU’s Center for Biospecimen Research and Development. More recently, he has been working for Sonic Healthcare (2022-2025), where he has risen to his current position as Medical Director of Molecular Pathology. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and in Molecular Genetic Pathology and is licensed to practice medicine in New York State. He joins us at Cornell in our Molecular Pathology division and as Medical Director, Pathology Outreach and Business Development.
