Personal Statement

I am a physician, a researcher, and an educator passionate about improving the wellness of people living with serious medical illnesses like heart failure, cancer, and chronic lung disease. Having a serious illness is among the most challenging experiences for both patients and caregivers. However, with appropriate medical and mental health support, patients and their families can thrive, even when a disease may not be curable. My work as a psychiatrist, palliative medicine physician, and researcher is driven by a mission is to ensure that every patient and family impacted by serious medical illnesses has access to the individualized support and care that they need to live well, even in the face of medical challenges.
