Personal Statement

Dr. Christina Shayevitz is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College and an Attending Psychiatrist at New York Presbyterian- Lower Manhattan Hospital. She is a faculty member of the Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service which provides care to patients with comorbid psychiatric and general medical conditions in the inpatient and emergency room settings. She serves a clinical function of immediate management of psychiatric conditions, and an educational function of teaching psychological needs of patients and facilitating the medical treatment of the patient. Dr. Shayevitz specializes in knowledge of psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological interventions in hospitalized patients. She has expertise in treating people with comorbid medical, obstetrical, surgical, and neurological conditions and has a special interest in neurobehavioral disorders.

Biographical Info

Dr. Christina Shayevitz received her B.A. degree from University of California, San Diego in 2008, on the Dean’s Honor Roll. She wished for change in seasons and snow, and moved to Syracuse, New York where she attended SUNY Upstate Medical University. Following the completion of her medical degree, she attended residency in Adult Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel where she also served as the Co-Chair of the MSBI House Staff Committee. She fell in love with fast-pace and multicultural New York, and stayed for a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at NYU/Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Shayevitz also completed the Psychodynamic Therapy Certification Course provided by the New York Medical College Psychoanalytic Program. She now resides in Financial District and is happy to be a part of the Consultation-Liaison Service at the lower Manhattan campus.
