Personal Statement

 

Dr. Rajiv Magge is an Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College and Associate Attending Neurologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Magge specializes in neuro-oncology and is part of the Weill Cornell Brain Tumor Center, providing care for patients with primary brain tumors, metastatic brain tumors, and neurologic complications of cancer. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (Neuro-Oncology), while being an active member of the Society for Neuro-Oncology and the American Academy of Neurology.

Biographical Info

 

Dr. Magge graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He then completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital, a residency in Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham & Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and a fellowship in Neuro-Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He joined the WCMC/NYP faculty in 2015. 

Dr. Magge serves as principal investigator or co-investigator of several clinical trials, and has published extensively regarding primary brain tumors such as glioblastoma and meningiomas, neurotoxicity of chemotherapies, and tumor imaging. Additionally, he is the Neurology representative on the WCM General Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC). As a Co-Editor, he helped publish the textbook "Central Nervous System Metastases- Diagnosis and Treatment," released by Springer Nature in 2020.

He also plays significant roles in medical student and trainee education, serving as the Neurology Clerkship Director for the medical school as well as Associate Program Director of the NYP Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at NYP/WCM/CUIMC. Dr. Magge was selected for the NYP LEAD Academy (Leadership Education and Development for Physicians), receiving strategic management and health policy training at Columbia Business School and the Mailman School of Public Health. Nationally, he serves as a member of the AAN Neuro-Oncology Section and the Alliance Neuro-Oncology Committee.
