About Sara Alhousseiny, M.D.
Dr. Sara Alhousseiny is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Pediatric Cardiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital.
Dr. Alhousseiny completed the pre-medical program at and received her medical degree with academic distinction from Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar in Doha. She then completed her pediatric residency at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., graduating with a Certificate in Global Health. Following this she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she completed a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology, during which she served as Chief Fellow her last year, followed by an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship with a focus on cardiac CT and MRI at Children's Health/UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is board-certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Alhousseiny is active in clinical research focused on advanced cardiac imaging in children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Her work includes the use of cardiovascular MRI to assess the heart function and health in children who have received chemotherapy, and the use of registry data from the Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Collaborative (PAC3) in order to better evaluate feeding outcomes in patients with congenital heart disease. She has presented her research at national and international conferences. She is a member of the Society for Cardiovascular MR Scientific Sessions, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
