Personal Statement

My goal is to provide patients with thoughtful, compassionate, and personalized cardiovascular care. I partner closely with patients and their families through shared decision-making to form treatment plans that reflect their values and goals. As an academic interventional cardiologist, I specialize in minimally invasive procedures for coronary and structural heart disease, and I am committed to providing patients with access to novel and advanced therapies that improve outcomes and quality of life.

Biographical Info

Mahesh V. Madhavan, MD, MS, is an interventional cardiologist with over nine years of experience in adult cardiology, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and congestive heart failure.

Board-certified in cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, and echocardiography, Dr. Madhavan has expertise in complex coronary procedures (coronary stenting) and minimally invasive treatments for structural heart disease, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), percutaneous mitral valve repair (MitraClip and Pascal) and replacement, and left atrial appendage closure (Watchman and Amulet).

Dr. Madhavan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons where he was awarded a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship. He subsequently completed his internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology training at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Madhavan is a full-time faculty member and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital with an appointment in the William Acquavella Heart Valve Center. He is also a faculty member at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and plays an active role in helping design and undertake clinical trials in interventional cardiology.
