About Vinay Giri, M.D.
My path to medicine began at an early age, shaped by my family's experiences with cancer. Today, as an attending oncologist at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, I am proud to be a member of a world-renowned genitourinary oncology team that has been at the forefront of translating laboratory discoveries into innovative therapies for patients.
I am committed to advancing cancer care through the development of new treatments and ensuring that every patient has access to our full portfolio of clinical trials. Because treatment decisions in genitourinary cancers are highly individualized, I work closely with each patient and their loved ones to develop a care plan that reflects both the latest evidence and the patient’s personal goals and priorities.
Most importantly, I believe that exceptional cancer care requires not only the most advanced treatments, but also compassion, communication, and trust. It is a privilege to care for patients and families facing cancer, and I am committed to supporting them every step of the way.
Vinay K. Giri, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Attending Oncologist at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Giri completed his undergraduate education at Duke University and graduated summa cum laude with research distinction. He subsequently earned his medical degree at the Duke University School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Eugene A. Stead Medical Research Scholarship and the William G. Anlyan Merit Scholarship.
Dr. Giri completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Stanford University and his Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. He has received research awards from the American Society of Hematology (ASH), the Stanford Department of Medicine, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). He has also published first-author works in various medical journals, including the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Cancer, and Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.
