About Janette Pamlanye, MSN, W.H.N.P.-B.C.
I am a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in hereditary cancer predisposition and the care of patients at high risk for cancer. My focus is on helping patients understand their personal cancer risk and build long-term health management plans tailored to their unique circumstances. Many of the patients I work with have never had a cancer diagnosis. They come to me because of a known genetic mutation, a concerning family history, or personal risk factors that deserve a thorough and thoughtful evaluation. For these patients, early identification and proactive care can be life-changing.My work involves cancer risk assessment, genetic testing, and ongoing monitoring that often spans months or years. I recommend imaging, procedures, and lab work to detect cancer at its earliest stages and use evidence-based medical interventions to reduce the likelihood of cancer developing at all. I also believe strongly that a positive genetic test result has meaning beyond one person. I work collaboratively with our team to extend genetic education and testing to family members of patients with hereditary risk, because understanding that risk as a family is one of the most powerful tools we have.My years in the chemotherapy department at New York Presbyterian's Breast Center gave me a deep appreciation for what a cancer diagnosis means to a patient and everyone around them. That experience is at the heart of how I practice: with compassion, thoroughness, and a genuine commitment to helping each person I serve feel informed, supported, and cared for.
Janette Pamlanye is a board-certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in hereditary cancer predisposition and the care of patients at high risk for cancer. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Duke University in 2024, with clinical experience at the High-Risk Breast Center at Duke Cancer Institute, where she worked directly alongside patients navigating elevated cancer risk and gained hands-on exposure to genetic counseling, personalized screening protocols, and preventive care strategies. Prior to her advanced practice training, Janette spent 8 years as a Registered Nurse across the Emergency Department, Step-Down Units, and Chemotherapy Services at New York Presbyterian's Breast Center. That clinical foundation of caring for patients at every stage of a cancer journey deeply informs the longitudinal, relationship-centered approach she brings to cancer risk assessment today. Janette is committed to empowering individuals to take an active role in their health, whether they have a mutation in a cancer risk gene, have a significant family history of cancer, or present with personal risk factors that warrant closer attention and individualized care.
