Dr. Sangil Lee is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and a board-certified physician in both Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Mayo Clinic and previously served on the faculty at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, where he held leadership roles including Observation Unit Director and Clinical Professor. He has practiced in both academic and community emergency departments in the United States and Japan.

Clinically, Dr. Lee has expertise in geriatric emergency care, delirium and dementia evaluation, emergency psychiatry, and complex medical decision-making for older adults. He has led and implemented clinical pathways focused on delirium identification, age-friendly emergency department practices, and emergency department observation care.

Dr. Lee is an active researcher whose work focuses on improving emergency care for older adults through clinical epidemiology, implementation science, and advanced analytics. His research interests include delirium risk stratification, emergency department boarding, dementia care, telemedicine, and the use of large EHR and administrative datasets to improve quality of care. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed nationally to the development of the Geriatric Emergency Department Guidelines 2.0.
