About Sarah A. Friedman, M.D.
Sarah A. Friedman, MD is a board-certified neurologist and UCNS-fellow-trained headache specialist who takes a holistic, individualized approach to the treatment of headache disorders. She works closely with her patients to develop treatment plans that align with their goals and preferences, incorporating a combination of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies. Non-pharmacologic treatment options may include supplements, acupuncture, biofeedback, and neuromodulation devices. She also offers procedural treatments including onabotulinumtoxinA injections for chronic migraine, pericranial nerve blocks, sphenopalatine ganglion blocks, and trigger point injections. Her clinical and research interests include migraine and women’s health, with a particular focus on migraine during pregnancy and the postpartum period. She is also interested in expanding access to emerging therapies and clinical trials for patients with headache disorders.
Sarah A. Friedman, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine, specializing in Headache Medicine. A lifelong New Yorker, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester and her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. She subsequently completed her neurology residency and Headache Medicine fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine.
She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Headache Society and American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Friedman’s research focuses on the management and safety of migraine treatments during pregnancy and the vascular safety of emerging headache therapies. She has published in peer-reviewed journals including Neurology and Seminars in Neurology and serves as an Assistant Editor for Headache, the official journal of the American Headache Society. She is actively involved in expanding clinical research and clinical trial opportunities at Weill Cornell Medicine.
