Welcome to Weill Cornell Medicine Ophthalmology! As a pediatric optometrist, I am dedicated to providing exceptional eye care for children of all ages, including those with special needs. If your child has recently failed a vision screening at school or with a pediatrician, I am here to help. In addition, I offer a variety of services including comprehensive exams, problem-based visits, pediatric contact lens fittings, and co-management with pediatric ophthalmology to ensure that your child’s vision is in excellent hands.

Lakshmisahithi Rani, OD is a pediatric optometrist at Weill Cornell Medicine Ophthalmology. Her practice interests include pediatric comprehensive eye care including treatment and management of amblyopia, myopia management, binocular vision, and contact lenses.
After obtaining her undergraduate degree in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry (NECO). During optometry school, Dr. Rani was awarded the Charles Robert Soltes Memorial Scholarship, the NECO Student Innovation award, and was one of Cooper Vision’s Best Practices student honorees.
Following optometry school, Dr. Rani completed her residency in Pediatric Optometry at the SUNY College of Optometry. She trained at the University Eye Center as well at NYC Health + Hospitals (Woodhull), gaining extensive experience in managing amblyopia, strabismus, myopia/refractive error, pediatric ocular pathology, and neuro optometry.
Dr. Rani also received her M.S. in Vision Science from NECO, completing her thesis in telemedicine and binocular vision and has been published numerous times in various optometric and vision science journals.
Dr. Rani is currently accepting new patients. She sees patients for general comprehensive exams, failed vision screenings, and problem-based visits. Appointments can be made by calling 646-962-2020, or by visiting http://www.weillcornelleye.org/.
