Personal Statement

Dr. Miranda Greiner is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Attending Psychiatrist with the NewYork-Presbyterian Telepsychiatry Consultation Liaison Service. Dr. Greiner is board certified in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. She specializes in the acute stabilization of psychiatry and substance use disorders in the emergency room and inpatient settings. She values adapting care plans to each individual’s needs and facilitating transitions in care from inpatient to outpatient treatment settings. 

Biographical Info

Dr. Miranda Greiner obtained her B.A. degree in biochemistry and Latin American studies from the University of Kansas. After a medical internship in rural Guatemala, she decided to pursue medicine and completed her medical degree at the University of Kansas. During her medical training, she completed an accelerated 1-year Master of Public Health in health policy and management at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. After experiencing New York City, and seeing the potential for expanding and implementing psychiatric care, Dr. Greiner was committed to staying and completed her Psychiatry Residency at Weill Cornell Medicine/NewYork-Presbyterian. She went on to complete a clinical and research fellowship in substance use disorders at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and New York State Psychiatric Institute.

After years of research and clinical work at CUIMC and New York University Langone Health, she has returned to Weill Cornell Medicine. She attributes this return to her desire to immerse herself again in the strong academic and patient-centered care that runs deep across Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Greiner continues to carry out site-level and quality improvement research projects and engage with local policy stakeholders to improve and expand evidence-based care in psychiatry and substance use disorders.

Dr. Greiner has served on various review committees and workgroups including through the Clinical Trials Network of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). She has received numerous honors and awards including the National Institutes of Health Loan Repayment Program Award for Clinical Research. She is an elected member of the American Psychiatric Association’s Council on Addiction Psychiatry, New York Node of NIDA’s Clinical Trials Network, and the New York State’s Evidence-Based Review Advisory Committee.
