About Masrai K. Williams, M.D.
Dr. Masrai K. Williams (he/him/his) is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine and an attending neurologist at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, specializing in Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Williams is a board-certified neurologist with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, REM sleep behavior disorder and other parasomnias, circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders, central disorders of hypersomnolence, and sleep-related movement disorders. His approach emphasizes comprehensive evaluation, individualized treatment, and longitudinal care, with collaboration across specialties when appropriate.
Dr. Williams completed his fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where he also completed his residency in Neurology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai with Distinction in Research and his Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Cornell University, where he was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar.
His academic work has examined the relationships among sleep, cognition, and neurological health. His research has included studies of sleep-dependent memory consolidation, obstructive sleep apnea and hypoxic burden, and biomarkers related to aging and Alzheimer’s disease. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at national scientific meetings.
Dr. Williams is also involved in medical education and mentorship. He has contributed to initiatives aimed at increasing trainee exposure to sleep medicine, founded a Sleep Medicine Interest Group, and has served in medical student mentorship and admissions activities.
Dr. Williams is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Neurology, Sleep Research Society, and American Thoracic Society.
He is committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-based, and individualized care, helping patients understand their sleep disorders and develop treatment plans that improve sleep, daytime functioning, and overall health.
