Personal Statement

As a specialist in pulmonary and critical care medicine I have the privilege of taking care of a wide variety of patients with complex medical illnesses.  When patients are admitted to the intensive care they are at their sickest and it is also a very trying time for their loved ones.  In the medical intensive care unit we work as a team to provide the best in modern critical care for our patients.  From titrating potent medications, adjusting ventilators, and treating a broad array of conditions, we harness knowledge from all walks of medicine to get patients and their families through these difficult times.  In addition to medications, tests, and procedures, the emotional connection we form with our patients and their families is important and unique.  It is a truly an honor to be able to practice medicine in this environment and with many amazing colleagues.

Dr. Kapil Rajwani is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College and Assistant Attending Physician at The New York Presbyterian Hospital.  He specializes in the care of patients with pulmonary disease and works in the medical intensive care unit to care for patient with critical illness.  He also is involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows with a focus on simulation training for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and various other procedures that are performed in the intensive care unit.  He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
