Personal Statement

As an adolescent medicine physician, it is a privilege to care for teenage and young adult patients, and to serve their unique healthcare needs. Adolescence presents an invaluable opportunity to capitalize on the array of assets youth possess and positively impact their trajectories to becoming thriving adults. In partnership with their families, I aim to provide a safe space for teens as they wrestle with the challenges of their physical and psychosocial development, and help them learn to become advocates for their health and well-being. I find joy in getting to know my patients beyond their chief complaints, thinking critically about their clinical questions, cheering on their victories, and offering support as they overcome adversity. I use a multidisciplinary approach to address a wide range of health issues, such as preventive medicine, sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, and mental health. I am also engaged in educating medical trainees to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to adolescents.
