About Jennifer Salant, M.D.
As Director of the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT), my goal is to help children facing serious illness and their families live their fullest lives. We focus on high-quality multimodal symptom management, and support families with complex decision-making along a child's medical journey. This interdisciplinary approach affords me the opportunity to work closely with my physician, nursing, social work, child life, chaplaincy, and mental health colleagues. Together, we identify and implement care that aligns with families’ goals and values.
I am also a pediatric critical care physician, and am privileged to care for critically ill children admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and their families.
Dr. Jennifer Salant is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Pediatrician at the NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Children's Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is Director of the Pediatric Advanced Care Team and a pediatric intensivist. Dr. Salant is board certified in General Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
After graduating cum laude and with research honors from Columbia University with a B.A. in Neuroscience and Behavior, Dr. Salant received her medical degree (M.D.) from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed her Pediatrics residency training at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Salant then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Salant deeply enjoys teaching students and medical trainees, and is a faculty member in the Margaret and Ian Smith Clinical Skills Center at Weill Cornell Medicine. She is also a faculty member with VitalTalk, and teaches serious illness communication skills to clinicians and students.
