Biographical Info

Dr. Hebah Ismail is a board-certified anesthesiologist with subspecialization in obstetric anesthesiology. She provides anesthesia care for patients in the operating rooms or various procedural sites at NewYork-Presbyterian Cornell and in labor and delivery at the Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns.

Dr. Ismail received her M.D. at New York University School of Medicine. She did her residency training in anesthesiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and completed her fellowship in obstetric anesthesiology at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Wake-Forest, North Carolina.

Dr. Ismail is also a dedicated global health advocate, a passion she first developed while working in the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic while a law student at Harvard Law School. During medical school, her area of concentration was global health and she won the Global Health Research Award. She completed the Global Health Delivery Intensive program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She was a finalist in the Gertie Marx Research Competition through the Society of Anesthesia and Perinatology for research focusing on improving high risk obstetric referrals in Accra, Ghana. She has participated in numerous research, clinical care, and education trips in Botswana, China, Zambia and Rwanda. She is currently pursuing further training in global health through the Department of Anesthesiology Global Health Fellowship at Weill Cornell.
